Extracurricular

Music - Mr Ricardo Cabrera-Diaz

I’m a Music & History teacher from Puerto Rico. I have been teaching for almost 18 years, in many different situations: public schools and private schools, teaching music, history and also teaching the Bible for many years while I was a missionary in Cadiz Spain. I had the opportunity of teaching in Puerto Rico, Spain, Rochester New York and now happily teaching and living in Austin Texas with my wife and kids.

Before I was a teacher I was a professional guitarist and played with many artists in PR for almost 8 years. I currently have the big privilege of teaching music at the AISD and be part of this amazing team at Reilly Elementary.

Art - Mr Julio Mendez

I am the art teacher at Reilly elementary and I have been an educator for 5 years.  Prior to teaching art I was a Special Education Teacher – PPCD, for 4 years.  I am married (my wife is also a teacher) and I love to travel, visit museums, go for hikes and do fun outdoor activities.  I also like fitness (staying active and working out), playing soccer, softball, and rock climbing.  As an art teacher, I feel that art is a fun way for children to learn about the world around them.

Physical Education - Coach Melissa Monreal

Coach Monreal

My name is Melissa Monreal, but you can call me Coach.  I was born and raised in Austin, Texas and graduated from The University of Texas in 2007.  After spending 9 years in the classroom as a 3rd grade teacher, I decided to get my P.E. certification and was happy to find myself at Reilly Elementary.  I come from a sports family and thoroughly enjoy going to sporting events, especially cheering on my Texas Longhorns.  When not watching sports, I enjoy being physically active, often attending Camp Gladiator workouts with my friends.  My goal is to instill a lifelong love of health and physical fitness in all of my students.
