Reilly Elementary's Commitment to Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
At Reilly Elementary, we believe that Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is fundamental to fostering equity-centered systems and structures. Our mission is to enhance and utilize our social and emotional skills while creating brave, respectful, and collaborative spaces that support all students, staff, families, and communities within our district and learning community.
Throughout the school year, we will focus on teaching specific skill-building strategies to our students to develop essential character traits such as respect, empathy, compassion, and the ability to form meaningful friendships. Mindfulness principles will also be a key component of this instruction.
Our dedicated team of administrators, teachers, and support staff will work together to help students build a strong social and emotional foundation. This includes fostering a sense of fairness and equity for all, celebrating the differences that make our community unique.
We are committed to nurturing an inclusive and supportive environment where every member of our Reilly family feels valued and empowered.

No Place for Hate
AISD's Whole Child/Every Child is a focus, which includes a plan for integrating the Anti-Defamation League's No Place for Hate campaign. The campaign highlights student coalitions that plan and implement projects and activities, resulting in students owning the projects and being responsible for enacting the campaign's main beliefs. No Place for Hate was developed to organize schools to work together and develop projects that enhance the appreciation of the lived experiences of all and foster harmony among different groups of people. The campaign empowers schools to promote respect for individual and group differences while challenging prejudice and bigotry.
Austin ISD has maintained the designation as the largest No Place for Hate school district in the nation for seven years. More information about No Place for Hate can be found on the Anti-Defamation League's website.
Daily Morning Meetings
Morning Meetings are an engaging way to start each day, build a strong sense of community, and set children up for success socially and academically. Each morning, students and teachers gather together in a circle for twenty minutes and interact with one another in a purposeful manner.
Peace Corners
One of the ways we help students self-regulate at school is through the use of peace corners. These trauma-informed spaces offer significant benefits to individual students and enhance overall class culture. Each classroom has a designated peace corner, a safe haven where children can attend to their needs, regain their calm, and prepare to return to learning and their peers. These corners are a nurturing part of our commitment to every child's emotional well-being and success.
